Right handed writer,...This resonates with me, too. Right handed writer, left handed spinner. Started with drop spindle. I am new to wheel spinning and find I want my left hand near the orifice. It’s a Lendrum DT (scotch tension), so the wheel doesn’t mind. I am concurrently learning to spin cotton on a supported spindle. That is really making me wonder if I should switch back to right handed spinning. Probably the same, "spindle-interest", and that the people I saw spinning also had the right hand forward.

I don't think I want to try the reverse.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183250014956175356.post-30831445101608067692013-01-28T17:37:54.168-08:002013-01-28T17:37:54.168-08:00I never thought about this. I'll keep this in mind when I looks for a non traveling wheel.

Also I think it now makes sense that I can't knit english style. I've always been a continental knitter. it never felt 'right' HA! molliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09350332187864277545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183250014956175356.post-81228712810904285492013-01-05T10:23:48.058-08:002013-01-05T10:23:48.058-08:00Thank you so much for this info. Now I finally know WHY I am a left-handed spindler: I learned how to spin on a wheel, but it didn't work out for me as the process is too fast for my hands and brain. Now I have a spindle, which I enjoy tremendously, and it still makes sense to me to hold the wool in my right hand and turn the spindle with the left!
JolandaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183250014956175356.post-72323753061512915802013-01-03T12:24:28.927-08:002013-01-03T12:24:28.927-08:00Very interesting. I learned in 1978, so have no memory of how it came about. But I tend to spin woolen and have always "drawn" with the left hand.Laura Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15499876318474562571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6183250014956175356.post-6434486809112334842012-12-31T08:45:56.490-08:002012-12-31T08:45:56.490-08:00As a leftie, I'm accustomed to adapting activi...As a leftie, I'm accustomed to adapting activities. Apparently I knit right-handed, as I was taught by a rightie, but I hold my needles so that my left hand is doing most of the work.

With spinning, I couldn't figure out what was right-handed or left-handed. I'm still somewhat clumsy as a spinner, but that's more due to my newbie status!
