There was a Majacraft Spinning Retreat where the participants put a bunch of fiber on the floor in layers, tore off a hunk, and spun it up. It was blogged by JumpSheep.
Vivien was inspired to do this for a creative spinning class and blogged it on SpinAYarn99.
There's a Fiber Sandwich swap going on over on Spinning_on_the_Edge currently, but not many photos yet (of incoming fiber ... it'll be ?march before you see any handspun from it, from me, anyway!).
